DC++ and BCDC++ 0.761 released
More than a year passed since the previous release. After so long time finally we have a brand new version of the popular file sharing clients: Both DC++ and BCDC++ reached version 0.760 and, after fixing a few little bugs, 0.761.
You can get the new versions from the client's homepages:
- DC++: http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/
- BCDC++(1): http://bcdc.dccafe.org/
Cosmetics
The first thing you'll notice is that the application now has brand new icon set which - have to admit it - was a necessary step for a long time. Now it looks quite pretty:

You can also resize the main toolbar from its right-click menu:

Managing hubs
Now the client saves the open windows on exit, so when you start up the application, you find yourself on the same hubs you were before quitting. This makes the auto-connect checkboxes unnecessary in the Favorite Hubs window.
Controlling auto-connect by hand is not wanished from the client, it got a new form instead: you can organize your Favorites in groups (finally!), and you can set up the client to autoconnect every single hub of a favorite group.
Settings
The Settings window got an always visible help panel on the bottom: whichever setting you click on, you will get a little help on the bottom side of the Settings window which explains you what the selected feature is for. Moreover, fortunately the Connection Settings has unambiguous texts in it, we hope that it makes easier to set up the correct connection mode. Similarly the Hublist window got new status messages too.
Bandwidth throttling
BCDC++ users know this feature for a long time, but finally the possibility of controlling download and upload speed has arrived to DC++ too: this is a must-have feature of all file sharing applications today.
A few useful keyboard shortcuts
- F3: Search on the chat (works again)
- F5: Refresh file list
- Alt+Right/Left: Switching between open tabs
Other
Magnet and hub link manager finally goes to a user-writable part of the registry. This means that the application does not need administrator rights to register itself as a handler for links, so the "Error when creating magnet registry key" and such errors now disappear. And, of course, not only the error messages disappear but the functionality works now.
Beyond the above, a lot of bug fixes and a security fix also appeared in the new versions. Most operators of Elite Hub uses version 0.761 from the day of its release, so we can recommend you to upgrade.
