EiskaltDC++ 2.2.0 released

On January 16, EiskaltDC++ 2.2.0 released, which is the fresh version of this multiplatform DC-client software. It contains a lot of bugfixes compared to 2.1.1, so all users using the earlier version should upgrade. The developers have finished the transition to the DC++ 0.770 core, which is a good thing despite the fact that it's not a visible change for most of the users. Along with this change, from now on, we can see the number of free slots for the EiskaltDC++ users on ADC hubs. Not a killer feature, but good to have.

EiskaltDC++ 2.2.0 main chat

As you can see on the screenshot above, the main chat got a separator to mark the unread messages, so when you restore a hub window from the background you can see easily where you stopped reading the chat. This feature is experimental and disabled by default, so if you want to use it, you can turn it on in GUI options (Options -> GUI -> Chat -> Use separator for unread messages in the chat).

Moreover, the bug which caused the away-messages to be sent to chatrooms is fixed now. The side-effect of this modification that from now on, the chatrooms are considered to be bots, while there is an option in the client to "Redirect messages from Bot to the main chat" which is enabled by default. This means that you need to turn this off, if you want to use the chatrooms from now on.

Among other changes you don't have to restart the client when you switch the user interface language. In theory, this should not have made a restart necessary in earlier versions either, but not every menu items got translated after changing the language back then.

Linux users probably already have the new version in their repositories, while Windows and Mac-users can get the new versioin from the client's homepage:
